Mibelle Biochemistry has announced that its DracoBelle Nu sd collagen-boosting botanical ingredient has been self-affirmed as Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS), following a unanimous conclusion by a toxicology expert panel that evaluated its safety data.

The ingredient has been shown to support skin health measures in clinical studies. One recently published placebo-controlled trial found that a daily intake of 100 mg significantly improved skin hydration and dermis thickness in a population of 100 participants.

The GRAS declaration follows a review of safety data, covering multiple toxicology studies which include a 90-day repeated-dose toxicity study in rats and the demonstrated quality control measures within the manufacturing process.

DracoBelle Nu sd is suitable for use in a variety of applications, including gummies, shots, beverages, gels, and bars. The ingredient is water-soluble, easy to formulate with, and has a mild lemon balm-like taste.

The ingredient is a new, more concentrated version of DracoBelle Nu, which was launched in 2018. The formulation is thought to activate the body’s collagen synthesis through the AMPK/FOXO pathway.
